Sarah K. Khan (Halki I)

Born in Pakistan and raised on the East coast of United States, Dr. Sarah K. Khan has lived, worked and researched in South Asia, the Middle East, North and West Africa, China and France. Trained in public health, nutrition and ethnobotany (the broad study of people and plants), Sarah provides consulting services on food and culture. She also founded The Tasting Cultures Foundation Inc. (www.tastingcultures.org) to develop vibrant multimedia educational programming on the intersection of food and culture. Sarah has a BA in Middle Eastern History and Arabic (Smith College); a Masters in Public Health and a Masters in Human Clinical Nutrition (Columbia University); and a PhD in Plant Sciences (NYBG and CUNY). She has received numerous grants and fellowships such as a J. William Fulbright Fellowship, CAORC, and Dana Meadows Leadership Fellows in Sustainability. She speaks French, Arabic, Hindi/Urdu, Portuguese, and Mandarin.
