David Goa
David Joel Goa is Director of the Chester Ronning Centre for the Study of Religion and Public Life, Augustana Campus, University of Alberta, Canada’s first Centre in a public university devoted to this subject. He studied philosophy and the history of religions in Chicago and teaches in the Religious Studies and Philosophy program. David is on the editorial advisory boards of Material Religion, An International Journal of Object, Art and Belief and of Studies in Religion/Sciences Religieuses, a Canadian journal.
David has written numerous books, including A Regard for Creation and articles on religious tradition and modern culture, culture and the civil life, and on museums as public institutions in service to cultural communities and modern civil society. The Ronning Centre hosts an annual conference on our responsibility to the land, development, and religious perspectives that deepen a sense of place and enlarge the human capacity to live modestly.
