William Antholis
Dr. William J. Antholis serves as the Managing Director of The Brookings Institution. In that capacity, he works directly with Brookings’s President and Vice Presidents to help manage the full range of policy studies. Dr. Antholis is also a Senior Fellow in Governance Studies, where his work focuses on the politics and institutions of international diplomacy. Along with Brookings President Strobe Talbott, he is the author of Fast Forward: Ethics and Politics in the Age of Global Warming (Brookings Press, 2010). He is currently conducting research on efforts in China and India to address emerging global challenges. From 1995 to 1999, Dr. Antholis served in government at both the White House and State Department, where he worked on global security, economic and environmental matters. He belongs to the Order of St. Andrew as an Archon of the Ecumenical Patriarchate. He is married to Kristen Suokko, and has two daughters.
