Jan Jorrit Hasselaar

Jan Jorrit Hasselaar is senior lecturer in economics and public theology at the CAH Vilentum University of Applied Sciences Almere. He has taught courses in Ethics, Entrepreneurship & Biblical Stories, and Sustainable Development. He is also a researcher on the project “The Catholic Tradition as a Living Source in the Public Sphere” at Tilburg University. He studied at Utrecht, Amsterdam and Geneva. His PhD is in economics and theology on climate change and societal transformation, focusing on climate change and a governance perspective of hope, and influenced by the writings of Rabbi Jonathan Sacks, Chief Rabbi of the United Hebrew Congregations of the Commonwealth (1991-2013). Jan Jorrit Hasselaar was policy advisor of the National Federation of Christian Trade Unions in the Netherlands (CNV). He is co-editor of An Ongoing Conversation: The Green Patriarch in the Netherlands and chairs the working group “Ecological Sustainability” of the Dutch Council of Churches.
