Peter-Ben Smit
Peter-Ben Smit is Extraordinary Professor of Ancient Catholic Church Structures and the History and Theology of Old Catholicism at Utrecht University, Assistant Professor of New Testament at VU University Amsterdam, and assistant rector of the Old Catholic parish in Amsterdam. He holds a doctorate in New Testament Studies from the University of Bern (Switzerland), a doctorate in Anglican Studies from the General Theological Seminary (New York), and the degree of Habilitation in Church History from the University of Bern. He has published widely in the field of ecumenism, with a focus on bilateral dialogues, as well as in New Testament studies. Smit co-edited An Ongoing Conversation: The Green Patriarch in the Netherlands. He has lectured throughout the world, East and West, serves on the organizing committee of the yearly Quasimodo Lecture and is a member of the commission for Faith and Order of the Old Catholic Church of the Netherlands.
